Happy New Year, everyone!! How exciting is it to "start fresh?" I cherish New Year's Day because it reminds me of the grace that Jesus Christ offers, and His cleansing redemption. The Lord continually shows me kindness and grace: both things I do not deserve at all! But HE is faithful, and HE is good. He is my Hope and my Salvation!
Every year I write down a list of goals, and here are a few from 2015 that were accomplished!!
1. Pay Off Loan
We JUST paid off our loan a whole MONTH in advance!!! Oh happy dance over here!!! Paying it off took much more focus and dedication than I ever expected, but we are SO happy that it is gone!! It is so much more fun to make our budget now without that pesky DEBT category!! A word of advice for anyone working on budgeting, use the app EveryDollar by Dave Ramsey! I love it!! It is so easy to use, and literally is the easiest way to keep track of spending! The thing that makes this budgeting tool rock is that every single dollar of income has to go into a category! That way there isn't any frivolous spending!

2. Shoot 5 Weddings
Our 2015 wedding season ended shooting NINE gorgeous weddings! And we couldn't be more excited for the way that the Lord provided each of our couples! We are thankful that so many of our couples were dear friends from camp (where our hearts are :) )and that the new couples became our sweet friends!
3. Attend a Workshop
As soon as Kari announced that she was teaching a workshop, I immediately reserved that date in my calendar!! Her workshop was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. My heart still is so full from everything that she taught us! Kari has a heart of gold, and I'm so blessed to have her as my friend and mentor!
Now for 2016! This year is full of big goals and even bigger dreams!! I'm sharing personal and business goals!
1. Shoot 10 Weddings
As our business continues to grow, the desire isn't to shoot 40 weddings and be overwhelmed. The desire is to slowly keep adding weddings until I can 100% commit to being full time with photography! We aren't there yet, and that's really okay! It's my heart's desire, and what a blessing to know what I am passionate about! We have six awesome couples so far for this year! Who else is going to become a KDP bride?? :)
2. Start Saving for a House
This is definitely a DREAM, but such an exciting one!!! We are in no place to buy a house yet, but we are going to start saving for it! (Insert confetti emoji's!!) Michael and I still don't even know where we want to live (we love Kentucky, but all of my side of the family is in Ohio and my dear brother and sister in law are having a baby in May!!). Our main focus right now is to just set money aside while Michael continues to go to school. So regardless of where we end up, we will be here for a few more years!
3. Commit to Blogging
Kari mentioned this at her workshop and it's one of Katelyn James' favorite mantras: there is ALWAYS something to blog about! I struggle with blogging, thinking that no one is going to read the posts, but based on the 19,339 page views our website received this year, I KNOW there are people out there reading it!! I created a blog schedule for every month of 2016, and already have at least four posts to write about per month! Now THAT is a huge accomplishment for me! let's hope I actually do it!
We have a lot of dreams, some that we will share along the way as they unfold, and others that will stay hidden until they are completed!
2016, you have a lot to live up to. 2015 was stellar :)
Happy New Year!!!! What are your goals for this year?
