My family went to Virginia Beach for a week long vacation filled with rest, enjoyment, and NO work! To say it was much needed is an understatement. My mom did an amazing job planning our whole trip! It was so great to have my whole family together too! Michael and I both have been feeling very overwhelmed lately, so this couldn't have come at a better time. We spent the first three days on the beach, and we had an oceanfront hotel! When we got to our room, we walked out onto our little balcony and my heart was instantly awestruck. I've never really been a beach kind of girl until now. It's amazing how the ocean is overwhelmingly calm and utterly terrifying all at the same time. I felt a lot of kindness from the Lord as we were able to soak in the beauty of His glory. Being still before the Lord is incredibly difficult with running a small business and working full time, but I had no excuses on this trip, and it soothed my soul. Of course I brought my camera with me, and I'm so thankful I did!
We happened to arrive right when a soccer tournament was taking place, so the beach was PACKED! But that was a really neat atmosphere to see! We enjoyed walks on the boardwalk, Sweet Frog fro-yo, playing Can-Can on the beach (throwing frisbees into baskets!), reading books that have been on the shelf for far too long (I dived into Anne of Green Gables!), and soaking up the beautiful sunshine and salty air!
Michael and I watched the sunrise one morning. I've never seen anything so beautiful, so calming, so life-giving. The images from that morning were not edited at all. God's hand painted skies don't need any assistance from me!
Taking family pictures with my family is always interesting, but these beach pictures take the cake! We had a blast getting updated shots but my brothers had a bit too much fun interrupting certain ones! ;)
We spent the second half of the trip in Williamsburg where we got to see Jamestown (if you follow me on Instagram, you'll recognize our lovely hashtag #lesshistorymorebeach) for some historical education. The day before we headed home we went to Busch Gardens! It's an amusement park with some pretty crazy roller coasters! I'm definitely not as able to stomach all those flips and twists...I guess that means more time on the beach!! :)

The view from our balcony!
My dad showed us what he's like while preaching on Sundays ;) but I don't
remember that from my childhood!
Take me back, please.
